The "betrothal view" is an interpretation of Matt. 5:32 & 19:9 that limits the "exception clause" as a grounds of divorce solely to betrothal - not marriage. This view is common among "permanence" advocates of marriage who allow no grounds for divorce or remarriage whatsoever.
