Introduction: there is someone we should seek to impress; however, He is the least impressionable person you could ever think of.

Text: Isaiah 66:1-2

I - The Audience: GOD

  1. The Transcendent God: "heaven is my throne"
    a) what is heaven?
    b) What's a throne?

  2. The Exalted God: "the earth is my footstool"
    a) Why a footstool?

  3. The Uncontainable God:
    Why the question of building a house?

II Who Impresses God?

  1. The Poor of spirit
  2. The Contrite of spirit lit.: the "lame" in spirit
  3. The one who fears God: “who trembles at my word”

CONCLUSION & QUESTIONS FOR MEDITATION ON THE LORD'S DAY
1. When was the last time you thought, “hum God must have felt good with me about this one”. Do you remember what it was about?

  1. Is the event or action described in “1” compatible with what Isaiah 66:1-2 describes that impresses God?

  2. Jesus, contrary to most of us, was not given to “praise” people but on some occasions He publicly said good things about certain people. Can you recollect at least two examples of people whom Jesus praised? What is the common trait in the examples you picked that you can single out as the root cause which moved Jesus to publicly praise or say something positive to or about those people
