The powerlessness of God's law

What shall we say then? Is the law sin?

Having shown that believers are no longer under the law as a covenant of works unto life, Paul endeavours to show what our perception and understanding of the law ought to be.

He outlines three characteristics:

1: The perfection of the law

2: The purpose of the law

3: The powerlessness of the law

It is this third aspect that Paul concentrates upon showing us that the law cannot justify a sinner, nor can it sanctify a believer.
