A Man Who Keeps His Promises

A conditional vow to God shows that we are giving to get, which is the spirit of usury and of selfishness. It is better not to vow than to vow and not keep it, and our word is the same as a vow. We do not have to add "I promise," or "I swear," to make it binding. Many times we make commitments we cannot keep because we speak too hastily without thinking. To break our word is a sin, and the person who does not keep their word is a fool and is perceived as such.
