The Pain of Desertion

Jesus never promised that in becoming his followers we would be spared persecution, but along with persecution comes suffering of another form namely that of desertion even of betrayal by those who at one time served the Lord alongside us. Judas betrayed Jesus and Demas deserted Paul. Nevertheless, the Lord stands by us promising to never leave us or forsake us.
