The Prejudice Of Unbelief

40

As Jesus teaches in His hometown synagogue, the people are offended. They know His family, His background. They know He has no formal training, and comes from commoners. They do not hear the message, and judge it by the scriptures. They only consider the messenger. This kind of prejudice is common, but takes many forms. In times past, the gospel may have been rejected if the messenger wasn't refined enough, educated enough. Today, it may be rejected for opposite reasons. Whether the prejudice is racial, intellectual, or economic, it is a common deflection to judge according to human criteria rather than on the basis of God's word.
