Stand Still That I May Plead With You

Using the language of a courtroom, Samuel calls the people of God to stand before the Lord while he presents the evidence detailing their apostasy and rebellion. But when we might expect the hammer to drop, God again shows his grace. They are implored to "fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart" (24). The great inducement to that end that is illustrated in this passage is this: "For consider what great things he has done for you."
