Middle East Archaeological tour #1

19
  1. Middle East tour of D.S. Madden & J.M. Phillips Damascus Syria, Jeptha, Amman Jordan & Jericho. This begins the Middle East Archaeological tour. Dr. D S Madden and Brother Jim Phillips were room mates, at the Oriental Palace, in Damascus Syria, during this tour and the different sites were audio recorded. The recordings are of very poor quality in some places but we thought that there was enough valuable information on these recordings to place these recordings out here for your enjoyment. The first few moments of recording you will hear is a daily traffic jam in the middle of Damascus Syria. There were no stop signs or traffic lights. The very first one to the intersection to blow his horn the loadest had the right away if he was brave enough to take the initiative to enter at the risk of life and limb. This was so funny we had to record this incident. We listened to this 24 hours a day for days. This was a total lack of Civilization and organization. Brother Phillips would not yet talk much so Brother Madden does the Narriating. Damascus Syria,Jeptha, Amman Jordan and Jericho are on this recording. If you listen very carefully you can hear machine gun fire, bombs, and shells exploading in the background. Brother Phillips ask the Archaeologist if he didn't fear for his life with all this gunfire and fighting every day, and the archaeologist said,'You drive on the freeway in L A don't you, Aren't you afraid to live and drive down there? It is more dangerous down in L A than it is here.'
