The Testimony of Pentecost - The Establishment of David's Kingdom, Part 1
Series Acts Series
252
Having declared to the gathered crowd that the tongues phenomenon indicated the long-prophesied outpouring of the Spirit, Peter went on to explain that the Spirit's coming indicated the exaltation and enthronement of the Son promised to David in the Davidic Covenant. Jesus Himself had affirmed this dynamic, telling His disciples before His death that He would send the Comforter when He had ascended to His Father's right hand. The presence of the Spirit meant that Messiah had taken His throne, but His exaltation was the culmination of His messianic work. Thus Peter began His discussion of Jesus of Nazareth by affirming His messianic work in signs and wonders, His atoning death and His resurrection.
