How do we receive the Word of God?
Paul praises the church at Thessalonika for receiving the Scriptures and preaching from them about Christ as God's Word. We should be a church that stands for the authority and inerrancy of the Bible. We should listen to preaching for a word from God. This passage also contains a high view of the local church which Paul calls his hope, joy, and crown (v. 19).
