Salty saints

In a summary statement about his teaching on discipleship, our Lord makes a simple statement, that salt is good. He then raises a strong concern: what happens if salt loses its savour, all that makes it truly distinctive? Then he makes a striking judgment, that such stuff is junk, only worthy to be thrown out. Finally, there is a straightforward exhortation: that we should take such vital truths to heart. In this sermon, we try to understand what our Lord is saying about the nature of discipleship, and what it means for those who are following him.
