Peter Proven Wrong by the Scriptures!

The Apostle Peter is perhaps the best single example of the blindness of Christ's disciples to the prophets and to Christ's teaching as well!

They sought a political savior, but Christ was meant to save His people from sin by being God's Lamb slain for sinners at Calvary!

Peter hated these "things of God," preferring the things of man instead, and Jesus rebuked him for it.

When Jesus died on the cross, His disciples knew that all hope was lost!

But afterward, when Jesus opened their eyes to see Him in the Old Testament prophecies, and how He must suffer and die to save His people, they were filled with amazement and joy.

The first glimpse of Peter's opened eyes is seen in Acts 1, where he describes Psalm 69 as applying to the Savior and to those who betrayed Him, especially Judas.

But Peter's understanding would be expounded powerfully in his first sermon at Pentecost, and later in his fiery preaching before Christ's rejectors.

He told the rebellious Jews that they had wickedly killed Messiah by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, even as the prophets had foretold. Their only hope was to repent, submit, and believe in Him unto everlasting salvation!

Weeks later, Peter proclaimed that the rejected Stone of Psalm 118 was Jesus Himself, but that rejection could never stop Him from becoming the head of the corner!

In 1 Peter, he declares the true essence of Jesus' Messiahship as foretold by Isaiah - He is God's perfect Lamb by whose shed blood He redeems His loved ones from everlasting Judgment. He was slain in our place to satisfy the just demands of an offended God.

Peter's opposition to the Lamb was overcome by the Scripture!
