Better Government by a Better Judge, the Lord of Glory

Christ is far greater than Solomon in so many ways.

Solomon was given great wisdom and knowledge, and no doubt his kingdom prospered because of his general wisdom. So too the Lord Jesus, when He reigns in His kingdom, will no doubt shed abundant blessings through His perfect knowledge of all things practical and scientific.

But Solomon's request to God was primarily a request that he have the wisdom to judge his people. He sought judicial insight and wisdom in governance and equity. God granted him this in great abundance.

We take for granted a society in which there is justice, law and order, and respect for life and property, though these are fast being lost in our society as we turn from the Lord. We see the baneful effects in heathen countries, bound in poverty and shame and danger, for a failure of government to protect life and property.

God's word exhorts Godly leaders to hate covetousness and the shedding on innocent blood. Yet in our country, covetousness and murder are staples of our political system. We have murdered 50,000,000 babies in a generation, and politicians buy millions of votes with money stolen from diligent workers. Every election is driven by covetous voters seeking to redistribute the wealth of the nation.

Our Lord Jesus promises to be a perfect judge Who will judge righteously. He will even set former wrongs right, because He has the power to raise from the dead!

The world wants to be judged by a God who will let them by with their sin; it falsely believes God will acquit the guilty.

But our Perfect Righteous Judge acquits His guilty people who trust in Him, because our sins have already been judged in the Savior.
