Romans 07 No Excuse

122

Imagine if you were a Jewish Christian—or even a Jewish unbeliever—and were sitting there listening to Paul's letter. You would have heard this from the last few verses of chapter 1: 29,
"They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them."

I think it would be pretty easy to hear all that as a religious person and to say "Amen" while feeling pretty good about yourself.

But…as always happens when you are really paying attention to the Word of God, if you think that what is being said doesn't apply to you, all you have to do is keep reading.

That's what we are going to do in this message as we continue our study of Romans. We now come to chapter 2 where we will focus on the first 11 verses for our text.
