Phony Repentance, Abundant Mercy

One of the major problems of the church today is phony repentance. Multitudes have walked an aisle, mouthed the right words, and joined the church, only to fall away and give no evidence of genuine conversion. A common assumption is that these people were truly saved, but for various reasons have just become "inactive." Very few seem willing to allow the possibility that many of these inactive church members have simply never truly come to know God at all and still remain in their sins. Perhaps Ahab's experience in these verses is a good example of this.
