The Dwelling Place of God

140 ( 111 | 29 )

Last week we were shown something of the holiness of God that Israel, and others such as the Philistines, saw and experienced, particularly with regard to the Ark of the Covenant. God was determined to dwell among his people, and graciously provided the means by which this could take place. However, very few were able to come near to the Lord's holy presence and to even touch the Ark brought about dire consequences.
How is it then, that we could ever hope to dwell in God's holy presence, and he with us? How could we ever 'abide in him' and he in us? If God does not compromise his holiness in any way to accommodate us, what profound work must be done in us and for us, that we might become a dwelling place for God!? (Ephesians 2:11-22)
This is the work which Christ, the Holy One of Israel, has accomplished for his holy Father, and for us, his holy and beloved people. What joy David showed when the Lord, whose name is Holy, was pleased to dwell in his city! What joy then, can we have, (even now!), knowing that He who inhabits eternity and dwells in the high and holy place, abides in us, and we in him.
