Deborah's Song, Part 2

31

Aim: To be numbered among Christ's faithful church—being willing to die for Him.

Doctrine: Among the broader ''covenant,'' some ''tribes'' are brave, while others are cowardly. All those who name Christ should be faithful to Him, but the sad reality is that not all are.

Exegesis: The distinctions the Lord makes between the tribes: the faithful ones promote God's mission (vv. 12-16), exhibit godly valor (vv. 17-18), and enjoy God's triumph (vv. 19-23), (while others do not).

Further application: How the church stays true to Christ: by humbly and sincerely believing the gospel of grace, and, by being willing to suffer for the Redeemer.

Key verse: v. 21 ''The torrent of Kishon swept them away, that ancient torrent, the torrent of Kishon. O my soul, march on in strength!''
