Series A study in salvation
428 ( 180 | 248 )
John calls us first to a contemplation of divine love, considering the love that the Father has bestowed on us. He emphasises the distinction of divine children, not known by the world just as Christ himself was not known. He points to the revelation of divine relationships, in the day when we see Christ as he is and are made like him. Then, he leads us to the implication of divine purity, that if we have this hope in us we will make ourselves pure just as Christ himself is pure. So we have the foundations and realities and consequences of the new birth set forth, adoption into the family of God and all it means.
