Hold Fast the Form of Sound Word

Telos: To encourage the congregation and especially those who serve the Lord to press on, enduring suffering if need be by faith believing that the Lord will vindicate in the end.

The morning, the Lord helping us, we want to consider what Paul is saying under 5 propositions:

1. To hold fast is really to memorise.
2. Rather than hazy ideas, the form of sound words refers to a system of doctrine.
3. Undoubtedly, Paul taught Timothy by the catechetical method.
4. Truth must be held not mechanically, but by faith and love.
5. Holding fast the truth with the Spirit’s help is the way to guard the gospel.
