Covenant Roulette

40

The book of Esther is unusually relevant now today. God remembers His covenant with Abraham--What really takes place in the book of Esther is covenant remembrance: "I will bless them that bless you and I will curse him who curses you." Bock & Blaising in their helpful book point out, "Since the rest of humankind is also envisioned in the promises to bless or curse all other peoples, the Abrahamic covenant consequently sets forth the foundational relationship betweem God and all humankind from Abraham onward. This means that to understand the Bible, one must read it in view of the Abrahamic covenant." This sermon includes a lengthly quote from Life Magazine June 12, 1967 regarding the six dat war. People were astonished at what took place in Israel in Esther's day, in 1967, and there are more surprises still to come. This sermon is however not so much aboput distinctions in prophetic scripture. Esther had one real point and one real hope regarding the Persian King--DO YOU LOVE ME? Chrisitian friend something very similar sums up your case too--if Jesus Christ is who He says He is, and if He loves you--your case is good.
