Jesus referred to the Old Testament many times. He did so to instruct His hearers. Also, the scriptures supported, illustrated and defended His message. Today, we find a most enlightening reference. Teaching the Parable of the Sower and the Seed, Jesus referred to Isaiah 6:9-10. This verse also appears in Mark, Luke, John and Acts. The passage asserts God's sovereignty, the definiteness of the Gospel and Jesus' reason for using parables.
