The Nature of True Discipleship

74

Today's passage presents to us the tragic rejection of the Lamb of God. In so doing, it calls us to consider the nature of true discipleship. The natures of apparent discipleship and true discipleship are such that at first, they seem very close together, in the same group, but over time it becomes clear those who are truly disciples of Jesus Christ. Just as two streams that start out at a single watershed but diverge in different directions and terminate hundreds of miles apart, we're going to find in this passage that kind of a watershed moment where we see for ourselves the reality of that distinction, the things that make the difference. A disciple is one who has learned to stay under the hard words of God to keep trusting in what we know of Him, to deal with what we don't understand, until we come to see His glory. True disciples remain.
