The qualifications for the Aaronic Priesthood were external.
1) He had to be legitimate in his birth.
2) He had to have a mother AND father that was a Levite.
3) He could have no physical defects.

Kent Hughes states there are 142 physical blemishes in
Leviticus that could disqualify a man from being a priest.

The Priesthood of Christ is internal as opposed to external.
“the power of an endless life” – v. 16

III. The Priesthood after Melchizedek is Superior 18-25

IV. A Hymn to our Great High Priest -- 7:26-28

1. What is offered?
   The precious blood of Christ – superior to every bull and goat.

2. To whom it is offered.
   Who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself up to God.

3. By whom it is offered.
   Our great High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.

4. For whom it is offered.
   Particular redemption proved.
