Yahweh's Judgments & Salvation

As we have been following Habakkuk's struggle as he wrestles with trying to understand God's ways - especially God's coming use of the Babylonians to bring judgement on the Hebrew nation - we see that he is now resting in God's revelation of his nature and ways. He is also resting in the fact that God has extended his mercy to his people. The prophet here is a man of faith - schewing the arrogant ways of the world. He now trusts in the everlasting and holy God to work his just will among the nations - Jew and Gentile. And at the same time God rises up to bring salvation to his people, Therefore, Habakkuk can rejoice in Yahweh 's character and person - and he does so even in the face of dire circumstances - a great model for us.
