Why???

Reading the book of Job to get an answer to the question, "why do the righteous suffer?" is a misreading of the book. Rather, we should approach it as it is set forward in chapters 1 and 2: "why do the righteous serve God?" Is it because God is worth it in Himself, or is it because of all the good things he gives us? Whether good or ill befalls us, His name is blessed because of who He is, not because of what He does (not that what He does is out of character with who He is…).
