Works vs. Grace

Why is it that works religion hates the Gospel? Did Esau blame only Jacob for ‘losing’ his blessing? Did Esau actually hate his father Isaac too because he didn’t bless him? What do we learn by the hatred of Esau towards the providence of God? Was Jacob better as a person than Esau was? Was it something Jacob did or Rebekah did on behalf of Jacob that recommended him to the LORD? When was Jacob chosen by God, at the time he was blessed by Isaac? How can we see Jacob as a picture of all those chosen by the Father in Christ?
