A Biblical response to Supreme Court Rules on Gay Marriage

This is Pastor Andrew Webb with a “News in Focus Response” to the recent news article entitled:

Same-sex marriage supporters cheer 'Cinderella moment'; opponents vow to fight on

I want to offer a sober biblical perspective about this and what this decision and the decision of the boy scouts to start admitting allowing gay teens to become scouts.

What amazes most about this is the rapidity of the change that has occurred in our society, and the reason for that, namely the success of the unified PR campaign to disconnect homosexuality from sexual behavior and associate it with civil rights. In the 1970s and 80s being gay was all about promiscuous sex and "in your face" behavior, many of still remember the days of ACT-UP and Larry Kramer and we’re here we’re queer get used to it! But the past 2 decades have been all about making gay synonymous with terms like "black" or "latino" or "Swedish." And they’ve been very successful in doing that so that when you say “I don’t believe that homosexual” should be in the boy scouts, its considered the same thing as saying I don’t believe Hispanics should be in the boy scouts. But Hispanic is an ethnicity, not a sexual orientation. Hispanic doesn’t come with a set of desires and therefore behaviors. It’s amazing though the degree to which Americans have forgotten that and the lack of even common sense that has resulted.
