A Prophecy of Hope

The New Covenant in the blood of Christ is the Covenant of covenants! It is the fifth and final covenant of the promise, the promise of Gen. 3:15, that God would send a Man born the Seed of the Woman who would crush the serpent's head and whose heal would be bruised. The first mention of it is found in Jeremiah's prophecy, and what a strange place for it to first appear. The nation of Israel was suffering under the curses of the broken covenant made at Mt. Sanai. The ten northern tribes of Israel had been carried away into Assyria, and Babylon stood poised to invade Judah. But in this dark hour a ray of hope appeared, a prophecy about a future day in which God would make yet another covenant with His people. In this message we introduce the new covenant by first remembering the first five Divine covenants, and then by considering a prophecy of hope (concerning the new covenant) given in the darkest of days.
