The doctrine of radical depravity necessitates the prerequisite work of the Spirit’s illuminating and regenerating ministry. The Scriptures, which God has “breathed out” by His Spirit, teach that the same Holy Spirit must make us alive to this “living Word”. The Words of Scripture are self-attesting, that is, they cannot be “proved” to be God’s Words by any higher authority. Therefore to disbelieve or disobey any Word of Scripture is to disbelieve or disobey God.
