1Peter 3:1-6 was written to give wisdom and guidance in cases where the wife became a Christian before her husband. These verses also give much insight into how a Christian wife shows love and submission to her husband. They also show husbands what they should lead there wives to be like. Verse 7 focuses on husbands and their need to understand their wives in order to love them God's way.
