The Race of Faith

Reading chapter twelve of Hebrews has ushers us out through the exit of The Faith Hall of Fame (chapter 11). But right outside the Hall's exit is another stop. Except it's not a stop, it's a start. We are now standing at the starting line of a race – the race of the Christian life, the race of faith. Maybe we should call it: The Celestial City Marathon! Every Christian is summoned to the starting line. The race is long. The course is sometimes demanding. But the finish line is drawn in the courts of heaven! The strength you need to win is found in faith. Faith fueled by great examples of faith. Let's start by considering five coaching points for winning the race of faith: i.) Step up (v.1); ii.) Put off (v.1); iii.) Run hard (v.1); iv.) Look to (v.2); v.) Finish strong (v.3).
