Lord's Day 34 - Worship the Living God and you will live forever
67 ( 56 | 11 )
Worship the Living God and you will live forever, but if you worship idols you will suffer eternal death:
- The seriousness of this commandment
- The challenge of this commandment
Introduction:
- What do people mean when they say that “we are what we eat”? In what sense is that true especially for
Christians?
Point 1: - When – and how – did the Lord Jesus’ preaching change?
- Why did God create us? And why did God give Israel His laws? What was God trying to achieve?
- When (and why) did God refer to the Israelites as ‘stubborn’ and ‘stiff-necked’?
- When the Israelites worshipped idols, how did God punish them? What does this mean for us?
Point 2: - Did the Israelites really believe that pieces of wood or stone were gods? What were they trying to do with
their idols? - What is the first characteristic of false religion? What – on the other hand – is true Christianity?
- What does it mean to live in obedience to the First Commandment
