When Lazarus was on his deathbed, the actions of Jesus were surprising to those around Him. From Martha's perspective, Jesus arrived too late. But the purpose of Lazarus' illness was for God's glory. Our trials and sufferings have the same purpose: for God's glory, to display His love, and to strengthen our faith.
