Silencing Troublemakers

1 Timothy was written so that Timothy and all the church might know how one ought to conduct himself in the church of God. It is, therefore, a manual for the church in all generations. There is a code of conduct that is to be observed. There is a way things are to be done and a way they shouldn't be done. The first thing Paul tells Timothy to do in Ephesus is to instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines. There are people who come to church who veer off from the path of orthodoxy and they teach strange things. This must not be tolerated, or the church will be corrupted.
