Divine Encounters
Series Series in Acts
Aim: To be God's redeemed agents of grace in this world.
Doctrine: God will go to any extent necessary to save even one of His elect churchmen. The Lord moves both heaven and earth to bring Christ's gospel to His children.
Exegesis: The players in God's divine encounters: heavenly beings and fallen humans (vv. 26-28); the Trinity's third Person and an inspired prophet (vv. 29-30); an evangelist and a recipient of mercy (v. 31).
Further application: How God uses us, His church, to bless others through divine encounters: every person we meet senses Jesus' presence in us, and we are honored to speak of Him (as we are able).
Key verses: vv. 29-30 ''Then the Spirit said to Philip, 'Go near and overtake this chariot.' So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, 'Do you understand what you are reading?'''
