Covenant Sins

Aim: To repent of covenant sins through our union with Jesus.

Doctrine: Covenant sins greatly offend God. They are worse than pagan sins, and they mar God's holy name.

Exegesis: Shameful categories of covenant sins: idolatry, forsaking the only God (v. 7a); adultery, enraging the holy God (vv. 7b-9); deceit, misrepresenting the true God (vv. 10-13).

Further application: How we overcome covenant sins: by wearing spiritual sackcloth, after first donning Christ's righteousness.
