The Lordship of Jesus Christ

Concerning verse 9, God, before the foundation of the world, according to his eternal and immutable purpose, and the secret counsel of his will, has chosen us in Christ unto everlasting life, all to the praise of his glorious grace.
In verse 10, by virtue of his death and resurrection, Christ has already assumed headship over the church. And although behind the scenes, he already rules the universe (Acts 2:32-36; Colossians 1:15-20). But a future focus is dominant in this verse. Paul wanted to impress upon his readers that the visible unity of the church in the inauguration of Christ's eventual visible reign over all things.
