What is Biblical Preaching?
Series The Elders Among You
The Book of Hebrews is a WONDERFUL example of BIBLICAL preaching.
The Book itself is a classic example of a well-balanced gospel ministry.
FIVE MARKS OF A BALANCED PREACHING MINISTRY.
First and foremost the preaching and the ministry must be Christ-centered, as the Book of Hebrews is.
The preaching and the ministry must be doctrinally correct and theologically sound.
There should be sound application in preaching to strongly exhort and warn Christians against laxness in duty.
With the warning to struggling Christians should also come comfort, so that when they fail in their duties, they will remember Christ Alone is their hope and trust. They must have faith in Him, and He will see them through to the end even in spite of their failings.
To put it more simply: Christians need the gospel.
A true gospel ministry must warn the lost that without Christ there is no absolutely no hope or comfort.
The remainder of the sermon shows how this small section in the Book of Hebrews, and the entire Book of Hebrews itself exemplifies these 5 principles.
