Mortification of Sin (3) - How the Spirit Kills Sin

The Spirit kills sin by actually working on the root and habit of sin in us in order to weaken it, destroy it and take it away. As the Spirit of God works these graces in us, he also takes away our stony hearts with an Almighty effectiveness. Thus, he is called a "Spirit of judgment and burning" (Isa. 4:4) as he truly consumes and destroys our sinful desires. The Mortification of Sin Chapter 3
