Life had turned ugly for Paul. He was in a dark, cold, deathly Roman prison or dungeon called Mamertine Prison. He knew the pain of apostasy, loneliness, separation from his books and betrayal. He could see death's door. Yet, he was a preacher of righteousness and he said, "the Lord stood with me". This strong and faithful man never lost sight of the source of his strength.
