1. Good Government

166 ( 126 | 40 )

The introductory address in a short series, on how we, as an Independent Reformed Baptist Church, believe the church should be led and governed. We look at the scriptural basis for preserving peace and order, thus bringing about the avoidance of confusion and error. The Apostle Paul had this issue in mind when he said, "Let things be done decently, and in order". We ask, how then, is this to be achieved?

Absence of order can lead to chaos, which is often evidenced by a lack of love. We briefly consider how the apostle dealt with such a situation in the church at Corinth. We learn, how with his apostolic authority, he addressed difficult situations, and gave rulings, which were commandments of God, that laid foundations and principles which are helpful in the conduct and government of our church today.

The apostles may be dead, but their writings live on, and we believe that with the help of The Holy Spirit, we may still benefit from what they handed down to us, and that good order, and good government is still highly needed in the church today.
