Covenant Implications

In Malachi’s time the second Temple had been built but offerings and sacrifices became perverted and profaned. Priests and people were delinquent and unfaithful. Blemished offerings for the altar, corrupt teaching, ungodly marriages and divorce meant that the Lord Himself would come to his temple to judge and purify. The faithful worshippers looked for the sun of righteousness and the second Elijah; fulfilled four hundred years later by John the Baptist.
