Take up your cross

The invitation is personal and intimate. If any man WILL come after me (follow behind in Christ's footsteps), follow me (accompany Christ or join in as His disciple). This invitation is very warm and affectionate for the true child of God, who desires nothing more than to not only believe in Christ but also to fellowship in His sufferings. Let these words of Christ melt our hearts into a longing desire to "go after Christ until we follow Him in His sufferings. This union with Christ is reserved solely for those who hear His voice and are always ready, willing and longing to follow Him.
