The Submissive Husband

Thesis: There is no such thing as a perfect husband or even a good husband. All men are messed up by sin. Men can be a godly husband and father however, by submitting to Christ, who was and is thee perfect husband.

1. HUSBAND SUBMITS IN ATTITUDE

   • give consideration or attention to wife
   • "know" her, who she is
   • be an advocate to her as Christ to us
   • get into her thoughts, desires, etc
   • Men to be chivalrous, because women valuable
   • Men sacrifice and protect valuables
   • "fellow heir" = she is equal. Be a companion
     to her. Practice companionship.

2. HUSBANDS MINISTER IN UNDERSTANDING WAY

   • Physical aspect - be involved with
   • Intellectually, learn about her
   • emotionally, meet her needs
   • treat her as daughter of God = princess
   • spiritually, standing/prayers before God

CONCLUSION: Husbands are to lead their families, but in a submissive way, realizing their wives are partners and valuable. Husbands should be intimate in all areas of their existence with their wives - reflecting all the ways Christ relates to us.
