An Admonition to Wives

Paul urges Pastor Titus to exhort the older women in his flock to teach or admonish the young women to do 7 things: to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands. Why? "...that the Word of God be not blasphemed." This message is a strong encouragement to women to fulfill the role to which they were called. It emphasizes Paul's first point, that young women should be taught to love their husbands. Clearly, the Scripture does not view love between a man and a woman as something we "fall into or fall out of," but rather, as something we are commanded to do, and something we can learn to do. It contrasts our view of romantic love with biblical love.
