How to Have My Needs Met

22

In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus describes the level of righteousness that He requires of anyone who is His follower. In this sermon we look at the section found in chapter 6:25-34. This section deals with the natural question that results from chasing eternal treasure. If we are completely dedicated to chasing eternal treasure with our life, then how do we take care of the temporal needs that we have? The reality is that the things we need to survive as well as most forms of enjoyment take money, right? So, what are we to do? In the section we are going to look at tonight, Jesus simply tells us to totally trust God each and every day. That sounds too easy, doesn't it? Totally trust God each and every day. Could it get any easier to understand? But Jesus realizes that the challenge is not in our ability to understand the concept, it is in our ability to live it out. When we put this idea into the context of our lives, we come back to the ever-present conflict between earthly and heavenly goals. And when we hit that conflict each and every day, we will go one of two directions: we will either start to worry or we will continue to serve God.
