How Now Shall We Fast

Far from abolshing fasting, Jesus implies that His followers will fast, just as they will give and pray. But like these other spiritual disciplines, Jesus provides us with instruction to protect us from wrongly motivated expressions. Of particular concern is that we not do these things "to be noticed by men" for then "we will have our reward in full." This sermon not only examines wrongly motivated fasting, but also rightly motivating fasting! Oh may we learn the joy of not only enjoying the food God has provided, but also abstaining from that food to hunger and long for even more of the Giver!
