Kneeling Before the Cross

DOCTRINAL
v34,God is holy that such a precious sacrifice must be made
God is just that such a pure sacrifice would be required
God is good that such a perfect sacrifice would be offered

For a sacrifice like that to be made, the fall of man MUST have been total
If man requires such a sacrifice, he cannot make it himself;
Nor can it be grasped by his intellect or wisdom apart from God's Spirit

DEVOTIONAL
v34, For Christ to suffer the fierce anger of the heavenly Father for sins He committed not, esp. when all He knew was intimate beloved fellowship w/the Father. Brings love for Christ.
Consider that His receiving the wrath that we rightly deserve, being eternally separated so to speak from the intimate beloved fellowship with the Father brought to all those who would receive the truth by faith, reconciliation & intimate fellowship w/the Father. Brings joy in the Holy Ghost.
When we consider that Jesus, while suffering the wrath of God upon that tree, was still pleasing, still beloved to the Father because of Christ's unwavering obedience to do everything that the Father decreed & ordained; we should also recognize that because we have died in Him, and are raised to newness of life in Him, that when, by God's grace, we are obedient unto Christ's commands, we are pleasing to the Father as beloved children. Brings a desire to serve Him & desire to produce good works for His glory.

PRACTICAL
vv29-30,Seeing the crucified Christ will do nothing for anyone apart from the supernatural work of God's Spirit ministering the truth of His Word to our hearing; otherwise, it only brings reviling and mocking insults because the preaching of the cross is foolishness...
