How the Bridegroom Beautifies His Bride
Series Christ the Church's Bridegroom
The Bridegroom of the Church has committed Himself to the perfection of His Bride. He has done so because of His great Love for His people. He has accomplished this perfection by laying down His life and giving Himself for the Church.
Herein we see the Bridegroom's conception of beauty in His church - not in buildings or history or ritual or grandeur, but rather in purity, holiness, spotlessness, and moral and spiritual perfection.
When the Church is attractive to the world, she is acting the part of a painted harlot in the eyes of Christ.
The Lord accomplishes His perfection of His people by the cleansing of His blood and the clothing with His perfect robe of Righteousness.
One day, the Scriptures promise that the Bridegroom will conform His Bride completely after His image. He will do so by that power by which He brings all things under subjection to Himself.
The Bridegroom of the Church is no mere weak husband after the flesh - rather, He is God incarnate in the flesh, and He has all the power of the Creator to accomplish the perfection of His people.
He is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless before His throne with exceeding Joy!
