Turn from the Sin of Worry

127 ( 26 | 101 )

One of the great challenges of living as disciples of Jesus Christ is to be consistent with what we claim to believe.

I am not so much speaking of hypocrisy as inconsistency.

Especially we who claim to love the doctrines of grace and the sovereignty of God, do we live consistently with what we confess?

Part of our sinful nature is to doubt, question, want to know what has not been revealed, or think we know more than God or could handle a situation better than God.

We must live according to the truth that we confess.
We must live and act according to the glorious truth that God cares for us far more than we could ever care for ourselves.

Do not worry, do not fear, but know God's power and care so that you can seek first God's kingdom.

Our text has 8 commands, 4 questions, and 2 reasons.

This has to be one of the longest sections of instruction on a particular issue in Luke. It is very powerful.

We will consider three main points.

  1. Do Not Worry
  2. Consider God's Sovereignty
  3. Focus on the Kingdom and Generous Service
